World Map Quiz

The World Map Quiz tests how well you know world geography by asking you to locate countries on an interactive map drawn with real country borders.

1. Choose a region — quiz the whole world or focus on a single continent.
2. Pick a length — 10, 20, 40, or every country in the selected region (over 160 worldwide).
3. Set difficulty — Easy shows the continent; Medium offers a hint button; Hard disables hints and hover highlighting.
4. Read the prompt — a country name and its flag appear at the top of the game panel.
5. Click the country — every country is drawn with its actual shape. Click the one you think is correct.
6. Get instant feedback — a correct pick turns green; a wrong pick turns red and the correct country stays highlighted for a couple of seconds so you can study its location.
7. Review as you go — the Answer History panel below the map logs every question with its flag, your answer, and the result; hover a row to light the country up on the map (green for the correct one, red for a wrong pick), so you can reference back and learn faster.
8. Beat your time — your score, streak, and elapsed time are tracked, and your best result per quiz is saved in your browser.

Tips

• Turn on Show country names in the setup panel to study the labelled map before playing.
• Explore the map — when no quiz is running, hover over (or tap) any country to see its flag, name, and continent.
• Use the Skip button when you are unsure; skipped countries count as misses.
• On Medium difficulty, use the Hint button to reveal the continent (costs no penalty).
• Small countries are easier to hit when zoomed in — use the +/− buttons, mouse wheel, or pinch gesture, then drag the map to pan.
• Use the expand button to grow the map to the full screen; the current question follows you in a small overlay, and Esc (or the button) exits.
• Starting a continent quiz automatically zooms the map to that region.
